Disinfecting Cleaners That Help With Corona virus 19 100 Plus

No masks but here are 100+ products that may help protect you against novel corona virus germs

Obsessively cleaning your home trying to keep your family from getting sick?

The CDC says there is proof that disinfecting your home and work space properly can help fight back against the flu and corona virus.

RELATED: Everything Americans need to know about corona virus

The easiest thing you can do both at home, in the office, or out in public is wash your hands. But you have to wash your hands the correct way.

Do: Rub your hands together with soap for at least 20 seconds. Try singing 'Happy Birthday' or 'The Alphabet Song' while washing. Hitting this time mark is essential.

Do: Keep your hands pointing down, so dirty water won't run into your sleeves

Do: Scrub every part of your hand, including the back of your hands and thumbs.

And remember, longer finger nails can harbor more bacteria than shorter nails.

"You really need to focus on your fingertips. A lot of people wash their palms, but if you think about what you touch the most, it's your fingertips," said Dr. Michael Chang, Infectious Disease Specialist at UTHealth/UT Physicians.

Don't: Touch the faucet or sink. That will only contaminate your skin.

Don't: Forget to fully dry your hands. Wet hands spread germs easier than when they are dry.

The CDC is now urging businesses to vigorously and routinely wipe down their workplace surfaces to contain the spread of any potentially deadly virus. Keeping the office germ free doesn't just mean wiping everything down, but choosing what you clean with and how you clean carefully.

Do: Wipe down everything at your desk or in your office at least once a week to stop new germs from growing.

Do: Leave disinfectant sprays to rest on the surface for at least 10 seconds before wiping it down.

Do: Wipe everything down with a fresh wipe or cloth. That includes your mouse, keyboard, and entire desk chair.

Speaking of your keyboard, flip it over when you leave the office every day.

Don't: Forget to use the one-way wipe method. You never want to wipe in one direction and go back over it in the opposite direction because you will deposit germs you just cleaned up.

Don't: Dry a surface after using an antibacterial wipe. You have to let those air dry.

"I've sometimes seen people use the wipe and then wipe it off and again. That's just not as effective. You need to let that air dry, so the disinfectant in the over-the-counter stuff will have enough time to kill the germs," said Dr. Chang.

Remember, not all products will work in your home. Look at a bottle of Lysol, Purell or Clorox. You'll see a claim that the contents can kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, including the coronavirus.

Those claims are true according to the Center for Biocide Chemistries. They've created a list of more than 100 ready to use, dilatable and wipeable biocidal products that the EPA has approved as effective at killing viruses like the corona virus.

Putting healthcare workers first during the coronavirus outbreak

At 3M, we are fully committed to fight the spread of COVID-19 by supporting the healthcare workers in the United States and worldwide.

“This pandemic is affecting us all, and we are doing all we can to support public health and especially our first-responders and those impacted by this global health crisis. We are mobilizing all available resources and rapidly increasing output of critical supplies healthcare workers in the United States and around the world need to help protect their lives as they treat others,” said Mike Roman, 3M chairman and chief executive officer.

In the United States we are producing 35 million respirators per month; of these, more than 90% are now designated for healthcare workers, with the remaining deployed to other industries also critical in this pandemic, including energy, food and pharmaceutical companies. ?

On Sunday, March 22, Mike shared in a LinkedIn post how our work is translating into product going where it is needed most:

"Like everyone, I see the pleas from our heroic doctors, nurses and first responders for the respirators and other equipment they desperately need. I want people to know we are doing all we can to meet the demands of this extraordinary time and get supplies from our plants to where they're most needed as quickly as possible. As I write this, more than 500,000 respirators are on the way from our South Dakota plant to two of the more critically impacted areas, New York and Seattle, with arrivals expected starting tomorrow. We are also ready to expedite additional shipments across the country.?"

Supporting Emergency Response

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, 3M has doubled its global output of N95 respirators to an annual rate of over 1.1 billion per year, or nearly 100 million per month globally.

In the U.S., 3M currently manufactures more than 400 million N95 respirators annually, which is increasingly being directed to support both government and public health response. The company also manufactures respirators at locations in Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

In addition, 3M is increasing its investments, primarily in the U.S., to expand its global capacity by over 30 percent in the next 12 months.

The company is also maximizing production of a wide range of other products used in the COVID-19 response globally including hand sanitizers, disinfectants and filtration solutions as the pharmaceutical industry works to find a vaccine to fight the virus.

Global Cooperation

3M is working with governments, medical officials, customers and distributors around the world to help get supplies where they are needed most.

The recently enacted expansion of the U.S. PREP Act helps ensure both surgical and standard N95 respirators will be readily available for use by hospitals and healthcare workers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congress should now ensure that all critically-needed reusable respirators, including Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) and others, are equally available to both conserve the supply of N95s and maintain their availability for healthcare workers who require them for either medical or religious reasons.

3M encourages governments around the world to work together to ensure that supply chains can operate efficiently and effectively so that critical products are able to reach areas where they are most needed. Restrictions that impede the free movement of goods impede that delivery.

3M is receiving increasing reports of fraudulent and counterfeiting activities involving 3M products. The company strongly condemns any unethical actions taken to exploit the global pandemic.

3M has not changed the prices it charges for 3M respirators as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, but the company cannot control the prices dealers or retailers charge for 3M respirators.

People are our Priority

Our highest priority is the safety of our people and the public.

3M is grateful for the efforts of employees around the globe who are working hard to maintain operations and increase production of needed supplies to assist our customers treat and help protect people.

Early on, 3M restricted international travel that was not deemed business critical and supplied employees with information on precautionary steps they could take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 – as well as the actions they should take if they become ill.

This week 3M instituted a remote working policy and paid pandemic leave policy, giving U.S. employees up to two weeks of paid leave if they are unable to work due to caregiving, childcare or self-quarantining related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

3M has also responded through donations to local and global humanitarian agencies.
